Simple Recipes for Homemade Pancakes


Old Fashioned Homemade Pancakes


Make the good old fashioned homemade pancakes with this quick and simple recipe. These pancakes will remind you of your Mom’s warm pancakes served way back your Childhood summer days. Enjoy these buttery, sweet and fulfilling pancakes for breakfast, brunch and/or snack! Top with your favorite fruits.


Ingredients:
Dry Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
Wet Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted


Procedure:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. While mixing, make a shallow depression in the center of the mixture. Gradually stir in milk, egg and melted butter. 

Whisk mixture until smooth and there aren’t any streaks of flour that’s visible.

Place a griddle or frying pan over medium high heat, then lightly pour oil into pan and wait until it gets hot. Scoop out the batter onto the pan or griddle, measuring about 1/4 cup for each pancake. Cook each pancake until medium brown on both sides.

Serve warm with or without butter, honey and fruit slices.

Flavorful Low Fat Applesauce Pancakes


Experience mornings with warmth and excitement with these new, sweet and low fat homemade pancakes. The applesauce is a great alternative to the usual fatty ingredients, butter and oil. 

You shouldn’t miss this healthy twist of homemade pancakes. The recipe makes 8-12 pancakes.


Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup 1% low-fat milk
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • Fruit slices


Procedure:

In a large bowl, gently whisk flour and baking powder. In another large mixing bowl, stir together applesauce, milk and egg whites until thoroughly mixed up. Slowly pour wet mixture into flour mixture, stirring constantly. Mix batter until just combined.


Place a lightly greased griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour a 1/4 cup of batter onto hot pan or griddle. Cook for about one minute or until bubbles appear on the surface, edges are firm and bottom side is light brown. Gently flip and cook the other side for an a minute further or until brown.

Serve warm with syrup and fruit slices!
